With its lineup of Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, as well as surprises 50 Cent and Anderson Paak, the Super Bowl LVI halftime show was one of the most anticipated in recent memory. i would even wager to say there were more than a few that were awaiting that more than the game itself. Personally I had no interest in the midgame festivities but the footwear of one Marshall Mathers caught my and many a sneakerhead’s eye.
At fisrt glance they appreared to be a run-of-the-mill pair of the upcoming ”Fire Red” Air Jordan III, which wouldn’t be a surprise as for the better part of nearly two decades , Eminem has shown a penchant for rocking Air Jordans. Considering his status and history with Jordan Brand, him having a pair of ”Fire Red” months in advance is not out of the ordinary, but as it turns out, these were not he sneakers that are coming later this year.
They have the same aesthetic of the normal ”Fire Red” III – white leather upper, elephant print, fire red accents and white midsole- but with a few notable differences. The Jumpman on the left tongue has been replaced the rapper’s signature reverse ”E” logo, backing the tongue is a Shady Records logo. On the rear heel , the typically white tab is black and the ”Nike Air” has been replaced by a name tag that reads “Hi! My name is Slim Shady”, a call back to his 1999 hit ”My name is” from his second album The Slim Shady LP. The elephant print is akin to that seen on the ”Black Cement” colourway and instead of cement grey rubber on the outsole, translucent rubber is present.
These likely will not see a retail release. Check out the images below.
